I began watching this film thinking, if this is anything like the newish episodes of The Simpsons it was going to be a disaster. Luckily watching the film wasn't a complete waste of nearly 90 minutes. Most of the jokes had been mercifully saved from the commercails and I found myself laughing out loud a few times. There wasn't anything there i would be quoting in a few months from now, actually come to think about it cant quote anything from the movie now, except from the parts that were relatedly shown in the commercails. Most of jokes or scenarios seemed very familiar to a regular Simpsons viewer. Such as the the part with Bart moving in with the Flanders was regurgitated from the episode where, er, him and Lisa go to live with the Flanders', and the enlightening trip was straight from the brilliant chili episode with Johnny Cash playing the coyote. Also Marge and homer breaking up, hasn't that been done like five times before and much better, either Matt Groening and co. are running out of ideas or they just don't give a shit anymore.Where the hell the supporting cast in this movie, I cant remember Principle Skinner having a single meaningful line in the whole movie. The worst crime as the supporting cast goes was replacing the great Renier Wolfcastle with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the president. President Wolfcastle, now that would have been funny. The movie was very Ned Flanders heavy, but instead of him been the butt of most jokes he became an too important part of the plot, a waste of great character if you ask me. This whole movie centered far to much around The Simpsons family. I know, I know, its called The Simpsons Movie but from watching tv episodes people have grown to appreciate the supporting cast just as much as the main stars of the show.
All in all, this mvoie does not live up to hype surrounding it, I was throughly disappointed and felt that this movie could have been great, maybe as great as a classic Simpsons episode but instead it is about as good as an o.k-ish new episode, which is to say not that good at all apart from a few good gags here and there.
